STUDENT INFORMATION

JUNIORS AND SENIORS.....Attend the 7th session, sponsored by Celina Mercer County Chamber & Rotary Club, which will take place on TUESDAY, JANUARY 28th during I.E./Advisory. This session will focus on "Know the Basics - Interviewing Skills."  The more sessions you attend, the greater chance of winning a FLAT SCREEN TV!!

THE DEADLINE IS QUICKLY APPROACHING.....ALL SENIORS need to turn in their baby pictures and senior pictures for this year's upcoming yearbook IMMEDIATELY! Bring your baby pictures and senior pictures (with your name on it) to the office OR preferably upload the image(s) to hjeshare.com, code: celina. ALL PICTURES ARE DUE FEBRUARY 1ST....NO EXCEPTIONS!!
Also, 2012-2013 ANILECs are still available to those who would like to purchase one. Don't forget to order your 2013-14 ANILEC too!! 

The AAA Traffic Safety Poster Program is asking all students to GET CREATIVE and design a poster cautioning teens to avoid the many dangers facing teen drivers today. Prizes may include an invitation to a special recognition ceremony and/or money. Entries must be received on or before February 11, 2014. See Kassie for additional details. 

The Scholastic Team is selling hot chocolate every morning before school in the Commons area. Cost is $1.00. You add all the marshmallows or whipped cream you want. Buy one for yourself or a friend.

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES....TriStar applications are due TODAY, January 22nd.  If you are interested in attending TriStar but have not turned in an application, please report to the Guidance Office immediately after announcements so your application can be finalized and submitted.  It is important that you come first thing this morning....if you wait, your application will be LATE!

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO DONATED ITEMS TO THE FOOD AND CLOTHING PANTRY DURING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2013.  Your donation helped serve 902 families involving 2,475 individuals during the month in need of food and personal care items.  The Clothing Pantry served 222 families involving 722 individuals with 1,506 articles of clothing during the month of November.  Your donations are always appreciated!!  :)

There is a Scheduled 2-Hour Delay on Monday, January 13th!!
Tri-Star will be running a normal schedule on January 13th at all sites!!

If so....Join us for the next Mercer County S.T.O.P. (Students Teaching Others Prevention) meeting. The next Mercer County S.T.O.P. meeting is Monday, January 13th at 7 pm in the Coldwater High School Cav Room.

TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR THIS WEEKEND'S PERFORMANCE OF DISNEY'S ALADDIN JR!!  The show will run January 10th and 11th starting at 7:30, and January 12th at 2:30.  For tickets call 419-586-1494 or come early to buy tickets at the door.  Tickets are $6.00 for adults and students.

GUIDANCE

The Celina High School Post-Secondary Enrollment Options meeting will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 6 p.m. in the high school Lecture Hall. The Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program provides high school students the opportunity to take classes at eligible post-secondary institutions. Any student who is considering taking college classes during the 2014-15 school year must attend with a parent. An advisor from Wright State Lake Campus will be present to help answer any questions.

All Celina High School students are welcome to audition!!
Performances will be April 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, and 13.
There will be a mandatory meeting for all those cast December 19th 6:00 - 9:00.
Rehearsals are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. Be prepared to list all possible conflicts!!

The current Dayton Children's Toy Drive total is 344 toys!! We are so excited to have these, but we are a ways away from our 1,500 toy goal.  Please continue to think of those who are spending their Christmases in the hospital this year. We appreciate all of your help in spreading the word and your donations!!

NHS members....DON'T FORGET your poinsettia forms are due TOMORROW, NOVEMBER 26TH!!  Bring them to MP's room!!

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES: FRIDAY you will be attending an Orientation session for the TriStar Career Compact. You will attend during I.E/Advisory period. You will need to report to class first and after attendance immediately report to the Lecture Hall.  Please bring a pencil.
 
ATTENTION SENIORS: THIS FRIDAY is the LAST day to request a transcript IF YOU WANT IT SENT OUT BEFORE THANKSGIVING BREAK.
Keep in mind that we will be out of school Nov. 27 - Dec. 2. If you are applying to a college with an admission deadline of Dec. 1st (For example: University of Cincinnati, Miami University) you will need to be sure and take care of requesting transcripts by FRIDAY. IF you are applying through the Common Application, you also need to make your counselor aware of this by FRIDAY! NO SCHOOL REPORT FORMS WILL BE ABLE TO BE PROCESSED DURING THE BREAK.

Are you someone who is energetic, who has good sportsmanship and school spirit??? Do you like to jump around and give high fives???? YOU could be our next Spike!!!
We are looking for a Bulldog Mascot for this basketball season. You must not be a participant in any other Winter sports because as the mascot, you will earn a Varsity letter. Males and females are welcome and tumbling is not required. If you have any questions, see Miss Brunswick. All students interested should write their name on the sign-up sheet in the office.

LISTEN UP: The annual Children's Hospital toy drive is now in full swing and spots for the trip are filling up fast. If you would like to join see Mrs. Ball or Mrs. Kramer for a permission slip. Our goal this year is to collect 1500 brand new toys for kids in Dayton Children's - if you can help us meet our goal please drop your toys off in room 212.

REMINDER TO ALL SENIORS.....the series of 8 programs, sponsored by Celina Mercer County Chamber & Rotary Club, will begin TOMORROW November 19th from 1:35 - 2:20 with Christy Shell of Zeal Coaching. Her first topic is "This is your Life: Taking Your Dream to Reality." All seniors are required to be at the first session which will take place in the Lecture Hall. Seniors can register for all other intriguing sessions in the Guidance Office.  The more sessions you attend, the greater chance of winning a FLAT SCREEN TV!!

CHS Students for Life will meet Wednesday after school in Mr. Andrew's room.  Everyone is welcome to attend!!

Mr. Ellinger's class from first trimester may pick up their 3-ring binders anytime this week.  After that, they will be given away or tossed out!!

ALL BOYS who are planning to play tennis this Spring must attend the meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20th at 2:25 p.m. in the cafeteria.  If you cannot attend, you must see Coach Hainline before the meeting.
 
Anyone planning on running OUTDOOR TRACK in the Spring, needs to attend the brief meeting on Wednesday November 20th at 7:15 a.m. in the Lecture Hall.

Also those planning on running INDOOR TRACK, will have a brief meeting Wednesday November 20th at 2:30 p.m. in the CAPT building.

Congratulations to Mr. Hoover's 1st period for bringing in 334 canned goods and winning the FOOD DRIVE!!  They will be enjoying their donuts this week!!  Thank you to everyone who participated and helped out local families in need!

The lunch menu for WEDNESDAY is chicken strips, broccoli with cheese, dinner roll, fruit and milk.

GUIDANCE
 
Students may request schedule changes now through 9:30 a.m. on Friday.  Forms are available in the Guidance Office.  Please keep the following in mind when requesting changes:

*  Students may not drop a required class
*  The class you are requesting to drop must meet the same period and trimester as the class you are adding.  There is a schedule chart in the Guidance Office to help you with this.  Classes will not be re-arranged on your schedule to accommodate your request.
*  There must be room in the class you are requesting to add.
*  All forms must be signed by a parent.

Forms must be received in the Guidance Office before 9:30 a.m. on FRIDAY.  NO SCHEDULE CHANGES WILL BE MADE AFTER THAT TIME!!

STUDENT INFORMATION

On Thursday, November 7th, second period, Celina High School will be participating in the Americanism and Government contest sponsored by the Celina American Legion. Prizes will be awarded to the top winners. The contest is open to any Sophomore through Senior whether you are in a Social Studies class or not. Sign-up in any of the Social Studies rooms on the third floor by November 6th. BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!!

This year's canned food drive will be November 4th - 8th. Bring in your canned and packaged goods to your first period and the winning class will receive donuts! Any 1st period that also brings in 100 goods will receive candy. Help out local families in need this holiday season by doing your part!!

Tickets are still on sale for this weekend's performance of Once Upon a Wolf.  This is a 70 minute fun-filled children's show for all ages containing your favorite fairytale characters!  For tickets call 419-586-1494 or fill out a form which is available in the front office.  The show will run November 8th and 9th starting at 7:30 pm, and November 10th at 3:00 pm.

The ANILEC is asking for all Seniors to begin turning in their baby pictures for use in this year's upcoming yearbook.  Bring your baby pictures (with your name on it) to the office.  Also, if you ordered last year's yearbook and did not pick it up, it needs to be picked up in the Media Center.  There are still yearbooks available, so see Mrs. Langmeyer in room 104 if you would like one.

Optometrist, Amy Geier-Knapke, a 2003 Celina High School Graduate will come in to speak during I/E on this Friday 11/8 in the CAPT building.  If you are interested in pursuing a career in Optometry or the medical field, sign up in the front office.
