STUDENT INFORMATION

There will be a Junior Class meeting for ALL JUNIORS during I/E period TODAY, FEBRUARY 25th in the Lecture Hall. All junior students who have early release are expected to be there!!

CHS Creative Writing Contest
Submit any original creative writing you have written in or out of class by Friday, February 28th.
All entries will be considered for entry into the prestigious ReQuest Magazine!!
Cash Prizes to 1st ($100), 2nd ($50), and 3rd ($25) place.
*Multiple entries may be made. Include submission form with each entry.

Student Council will be selling IFlirtz during lunch, which is $2 per IFlirt.
They will be on sale until TOMORROW, February 26th.

There will be a meeting right after school TODAY for all students who are planning to participate in the Polar Plunge in room 212.  If you cannot make it, please contact Mrs. Ball ASAP!

FRIDAY is an FTA Donut Day!!
Your Donut Donations support the 2014 FTA Scholarship Fund - applications are available in the Guidance Office.

The lunch menu for WEDNESDAY is creamed chicken sandwich, corn, fruit, and milk.
 
SPORTS/ATHLETICS
 
The boys tennis team will be doing 'INSANITY' for conditioning Tuesday and Thursday of this week in the cafeteria at 2:45.  The conditioning will last approximately 45 minutes.

Cheer tryouts for next school year will be held on Monday, March 10th through Thursday, March 13th from 4 - 6 pm at the Fieldhouse. Please sign the sheet and take an information sheet which are both located in the office.  See Miss Brunswick with any questions.
 
Pre-sale tickets for BOYS BASKETBALL will be sold TODAY in the High School Athletic Office from 10:45 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Student pre-sale tickets are $4.00. Adult pre-sale tickets are $6.00. All general admission tickets will be $6.00 at the door.

There will be a pizza party for ALL girl basketball players this Thursday at the K of C Hall at 4:00 p.m.  Please plan on bringing all uniforms, shooting shirts, pants and reversibles (all WASHED) to the party.

This week our BOYS basketball team will be competing in the Sectional Tournament at Lima Senior High School. There are several policies enforced at ALL tournament contests:
  • It is the policy at all tournament games that balloons, banners, noisemakers and signs are not permitted.
  • Confetti or other similar items are not permitted.
  • Students are not permitted on the floor at any time, before, during or after the game, including introductions.
  • Spectators MUST WEAR SHIRTS AT ALL O.H.S.A.A. SPONSORED TOURNAMENTS
Students will be asked to NOT stand on the top of bleachers as this has caused considerable damage to many sites. Damage inflicted on facilities is charged to the competing schools.
We ask each student to respect the opponent, respect the host schools property and respect the officials and players involved in the game.
Your cooperation makes for a GREAT basketball tournament atmosphere.


GUIDANCE

Schedule changes for third trimester may be requested starting MONDAY, March 3rd. Forms will be available in the Guidance Office beginning next MONDAY.  Schedules WILL NOT be changed this week!!

If you have ordered transcripts in the Guidance Office, please stop in and pick those up.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS.....Attend the 6th session, sponsored by Celina Mercer County Chamber & Rotary Club, which will take place TOMORROW, FEBRUARY 11TH during I.E./Advisory. This session will focus on Social Media - Does it Pay to be "Liked"? The more sessions you attend, the greater chance of winning a FLAT SCREEN TV!! 

Celebrate Anti-Valentine's Day at the Mercer County Library....
Pizza, Games, Snacks, and MORE!!
Thursday, February 13th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Who needs to jump in Mirror Lake, when Grand Lake is right here in town!! Please join us at the Polar Plunge on March 1st at the Celina Moose Lodge. This year, the area highschool with the most participation will win $1,000!! Plungers are encouraged to wear costumes and must raise a minimum of $50 in order to be considered a participant. you will also be given a long sleeve shirt and the Moose provides a reception, with free food, for all Plungers after the frigid jump. To sweeten the deal, LISTEN UP.....if CHS gets 15 official participants, Mr. Foulkes has agreed to Plunge!! If we get 25, Mr. Metz will be joining him!! If you are at all interested, please see Mrs. Ball asap for sign up and fundraising materials.

THURSDAY IS FTA VALENTINE DONUT DAY!!
If you want to make a special order for YOUR sweetie, just give your order to any FTA member and it will be here for them Thursday morning.

The lunch menu for TUESDAY is pasta bar, bread stick, carrots, applesauce, and milk OR a grilled cheese sandwich.

ATTENTION TRACK ATHLETES...MANDATORY informational meetings for the upcoming spring track season will be held:  Tuesday, February 18th for the BOYS and Wednesday, February 19th for the GIRLS.  Both meetings will be held in the Lecture Hall at 2:30 and will be over by 3:15.  Make plans to attend and bring a pen/pencil.  Questions....contact Coach Otten.



ATTENTION SENIORS: THE GREEN & WHITE VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
Due to delays and closings in the past month, the Green & White Scholarship deadline has been extended to February 13th. If you do not have an application, stop in the Guidance Office and ask for one. There is still time!!

Tyus Temple breaks school record in 100 back and the sectional record in the 100 butterfly!
Michaela Wenning breaks sectional record in the 50 free!
Girls 200 free relay breaks sectional record!

The junior class needs workers for the concession stand for the boys' basketball game TODAY, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th. Sign up in Mr. Higgins' room, room 201. All popcorn workers need to be at the Fieldhouse at 4:30 and all other workers need to be there at 5:30.

Please stop by the office TODAY or next week and see Kassie so we can get your signature and have the shirts printed. If you did not order a Class of 2014 Senior shirt and would still like to do so, order forms are available in the main office. OVISCO plans to have our shirts ready towards the end of this month. GET YOUR SIGNATURES IN AND ORDER NOW!!

ATTENTION SENIORS: AAA School Safety Patrol Grant Award Program
This program is open to high school seniors who once served as a member of a AAA School Safety Patrol team.
Due to numerous school delays and closings in the past month, the AAA School Safety Patrol $1,000 Grant deadline has been extended. Materials must now be postmarked by Tuesday, March 4th.
