STUDENT INFORMATION

Edward Jones in cooperation with "Operation Gratitude" invites you in thanking our Service men and women and first responders as we collect used cell phones.  Money earned from the recycling of cell phones will provide care packages for these men and women.  You can deposit used cell phones in the high school office in the box labeled "Operation Gratitude".

REMINDER....tomorrow is fall make-up/retake picture day.  Picture packets are still available in the office.

Celina High School Students for Life will have a meeting TOMORROW in Mr. Andrew's room, room 109. Everyone is welcome to attend.

ATTENTION any junior who registered to take the PSAT: the test is this Wednesday periods 1 - 3. You should report to the Lecture Hall before 1st period. Attendance will be taken there. Bring pencils and a calculator.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!  This Thursday, October 17th there will be a bonfire at the Mercer County Fairgrounds to support our Dogs!  The fire starts at 7 and is open to the public.  Admission is free but please bring a canned food item to help support the C.A.L.L food pantry.  See you there!
 
The lunch menu for WEDNESDAY is pepperoni French bread pizza, corn, fruit and milk.

GUIDANCE

Sign up in the Guidance Office to listen to Joe Clouse, a pharmacist from Coldwater Hospital, talk about his career in pharmacy this Friday during I/E.

The University of Findlay will have a representative in the Media Center during I/E period tomorrow.  Be sure to sign-up in the Guidance Office if you wish to attend.

Lourdes University and Ohio State School of Cosmetology will be here for I/E presentations in November. Stop in the Guidance Office if you would like to sign up for either of these presentations.
SPORTS/ATHLETICS
 
Any girl basketball player, not playing a fall sport, there will be open gym this week (tonight and Thursday) at 4:00 pm at the Fieldhouse.  This is a change in your schedule!!

 
BOYS SOCCER defeated Kenton 2 - 0 in the first round of the tournament.
Goals were scored by Brennen Piper and Hank Thobe.

Any Spirit Squad member that is interested in painting driveways on Saturday needs to be at the front doors of the high school Saturday at 11 am.  See Mrs. Ball if you have any questions!

Seniors are voting for Homecoming candidates for 2013-14 Homecoming Court first period this morning.  If you are NOT here first period, please see Kassie in the front office to receive your ballot AND vote TODAY!!
 
The lunch menu for FRIDAY is nachos, burrito, taco with lettuce and cheese, refried beans, fruit and milk OR a cheeseburger sandwich.
GUIDANCE

 Indiana Tech will have a representative in the cafeteria hallway during lunch today.

TOMORROW is the last day to sign up for the PSAT.  To register bring a check for $14.00 to the guidance office.  The check needs to be made out to Celina High School.
Saturday the ACT will be given here at Celina High School.  Be sure to bring your calculator, several #2 pencils, your admission ticket and a photo I.D.  You WILL NOT BE ADMITTED WITHOUT YOUR ADMISSION TICKET AND A PHOTO I.D.  The test will start promptly at 8:00 a.m., so be here early to find your room and get checked in.

Big Brothers Big Sisters will be accepting applications through this Friday.

No experience required. Just be willing to learn.
Bowling is a good time you can have with your family and friends.
Registration is open to boys and girls.

STUDENT INFORMATION

Reminder to all art students interested in signing up for the 2014 New York Trip....permission slips and the initial deposit is due next week to either Ms. Sutter or Miss Brunswick in the Art room.

Anyone interested in earning some community service hours, help is needed at four of the last home volleyball games.  If interested see Ms. Sutter in the art room ASAP!!!

Friday is FTA Donut Day!!  Your donation supports the FTA Scholarship Fund.

Homecoming Visitor Forms are now available in the office.  These forms are due Thursday, October 3rd.

There will be a CHS Students For Life meeting in Mr. Andrew's room right after school TODAY.  Students For Life is a pro-life group at the school for those who are pro-life, and want to be more involved with their school.

Fall makeup/retake picture day is Wednesday, October 16th!!  Picture packets will be available in the office around the 1st of October!!

Interested students can register with Mrs. Booher in the Guidance Office during the week of September 16th - September 20th. You must bring a check for $14.00 made out to Celina High School.

SPORTS/ATHLETICS

Football fanatics:  do we have the best high school football fans in the surrounding area?  Better believe we do!!  Well, let's prove it!!  Stolly Insurance Group is conducting a Facebook contest in search of "The Best Fans in the Land" (visit Facebook.com/StollyInsurance for more detail).  Communities in the surrounding counties will send pictures of their fans (both students and adults) showing support for their team to Stolly's Facebook page.  Those pictures will form a 'team album';  the album with the most votes wins!!  Our guys work hard to represent us well on the field, so let's return the favor and win this contest for them.  If you have questions or a photo you would like to share, please see Mrs. Ball in room 212 - the winners will receive free pizza!  In the famous words of Kelly Black..."Let's Do This!!!"
GUIDANCE

Edison Community College in Piqua is offering an ACT PREP Course beginning on September 24th. Sessions will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Stop in the guidance office for additional information.
 
Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for sophomores and juniors to be a friend for an area elementary student. The program meets once a week for group activities, snacks, games and LOTS of fun!
Applications are available in the Guidance office.

The following colleges/universities will have a representative at CHS during I/E period in September. You must sign up in the guidance office if you wish to attend the presentation.

A couple of opportunities for career exploration:

1.  Mercer Health will be sponsoring a series of presentations for students interested in going into ANY aspect of a health field.  Sessions will be held in the evenings, at Coldwater Hospital.  Topics will cover a wide range of career options including:  Obstetric and Intensive Care Nursing,  Social Services, Speech & Occupational Therapy, Radiology, Nutrition Services, Information Systems & Record Keeping, Pharmacy and MANY MORE.  If you are at all interested in a health related career, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about getting started.  Interested students will need to complete an application for the program.  Additional information and applications are available in the guidance office.

2.  Briarwood Nursing Home is accepting applications for the positions of "Hospitality Aide".  This position requires specialized training, which will be provided by Briarwood.  This could be the first step to pursuing a career in nursing, or a related health field, and more importantly, IT PAYS!!!  Interested students may apply in person at Briarwood Nursing Home in Coldwater.

STUDENT INFORMATION

     **REMINDER that "study tables" are now in session, every day after school from 2:30 - 3:00 and from 7:00 - 8:00 on Thursday evenings.  If you need some extra HELP, we are here for you!!

     **Young Democrats please see Mr. Sell at your earliest convenience.

     **Book Club Members - Remember we have a group picture on Friday!!

     **It's time to get registered for your High School Bowling Team.  Bowling is a good time you can have with your friends and there is no cost to you.  Best of all you could earn Scholarships for College.  Local students in Mercer County have received up to $5000 per year in Scholarships through bowling.  Registration is Open to Boys and Girls.  Meet at Plaza Lanes today anytime after school.  Ask for Gary or Mary to get signed up.  Practices will start October 30th.

     **There will be a spirit squad meeting in room 212 Wednesday (tomorrow) after school to plan the 5th quarter party.

     **Anyone who ordered Toms shoes:  the "Style your Sole" party will be TODAY at 6 pm.  Please meet in the art room.  Decorating supplies will be available to you, but if you have something specific in mind, please bring it with you.  If you are unsure if you ordered shoes, please stop by Miss Sneddon's room.  There will be pizza and snacks also.  See you then!

     **Picture retakes will be tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 17th in the Lecture Hall during 4th period/lunch.  The forms are in the office.

 **Wednesday lunch menu is cheese strips, broccoli with cheese, pretzel stick, fruit and milk OR popcorn chicken.

SPORTS/ATHLETICS


Girls and Boys basketball players -- McSports will be here TODAY during Advisory period in the gym for a shoe fitting for the upcoming season.  Please report to the gym during this time -- passes will be given upon returning to class.  If you cannot make it, you can go to McSports to be fitted.
