GUIDANCE NEWS
Juniors may now register to take
the PSAT Test. This test is a practice for the SAT, and also gives students
practice testing under standardizing conditions. Results from the test may be
useful in preparing for the ACT, and other standardized tests. The test will be
given on Oct. 14th during the school day. The cost is $15.00 and must be paid with a
check made out to CHS. Students may register in the Guidance Office. The last
day to register is September 18th.
Two college fairs are coming to our
area next week. Coldwater will host the Mercer County College Fair on Monday
Sept. 14 from 7:00-8:30pm in the Commons Area. Fort Loramie High School will host a college
fair on Wed. Sept. 16th from 6:00-7:30pm. Numerous two and four year schools will be
represented, as well as trade and technical schools, and all branches of the
military.
The Voice of Democracy Program is open to student in grades 9-12
who are enrolled in a public, private, or parochial school or home study
program in the US and its territories. The theme for 2015-2016 is “My Vision
for America”
Entry forms are available in the Guidance Office – Entries for both
contests must be hand delivered to VFW Post by Nov. 1, 2015.

This year’s Homecoming Parade will
take place at the Mercer County Fairgrounds on October 6th @6:00pm. If you would like to BE
IN the parade with your sports team, club, or otherwise, please see Mrs. Ball!!
We are also looking for community entries and we need each grade level to
create a float to represent your class!! You can enter vehicles, you can walk,
or you can crawl!! Just get something together, and see Mrs. Ball!!

The football games are starting at 7:00pm this year instead of 7:30. For this reason, your parents should be meeting in the Fieldhouse for SENIOR NIGHT (9/18) at 6:15 NOT 6:45!!!!!

To save disruption in class, the attendance office requests WRITTEN notification of upcoming appointments. The note you provide will be sufficient in releasing your student out of class, and they will be able to sign themselves out.

Big Brothers Big Sisters
Do you remember a special person who helped you as a child? Was there a person who was there for you as a friend and a mentor? Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for high school students to be a friend for an area elementary student. The biggest requirement to be part of this program is a desire to be a friend and to have FUN!! We are looking for students who can try to give a full year's commitment to a Little.
The programs meet once a week on different days at different locations in Auglaize, Mercer, and Van Wert Counties for group activities, snacks, games, and LOTS of fun!
To become involved or for more information, please pick up an application in the Guidance Office. Applications are due back to the Big Brothers Big Sisters office by September 11.
